The Detroit Lions saw two key players fined following their Week 11 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles. According to league reports, wide receiver Jameson Williams and safety Brian Branch were both penalized for separate infractions during Detroit’s 16–9 loss.

Jameson Williams Fined for Goalpost Celebration

Williams was fined $14,491 after his touchdown celebration was flagged for “use of a prop.” The penalty came after the speedy receiver hauled in a crossing route from quarterback Jared Goff, sprinted to the end zone, and leaped onto the goalpost pad.
The 15-yard penalty pushed back the extra-point attempt, which kicker Jake Bates ultimately missed, costing Detroit a crucial point.

Williams later admitted he was unaware his celebration would result in a penalty. Despite the fine, the Lions receiver delivered a strong performance, leading Detroit with 88 receiving yards on four catches, including a touchdown. Williams has now scored in back-to-back games and continues to take on a larger role in the offense.

Goff praised Williams’ growth, saying his improvement has been “across the board,” from route running to overall understanding of the offense.
“Anytime we get the ball to him in space, good things happen,” Goff said.

Brian Branch Fined for Helmet-to-Helmet Hit

Safety Brian Branch received a fine of $11,159 for unnecessary roughness after a helmet-to-helmet hit. The second-year defensive back has been a physical presence all season and continues to be a key part of Detroit’s secondary.

Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown Struggle in Rare Off Day

Quarterback Jared Goff had an uncharacteristically rough outing, finishing 14-of-37. His usual chemistry with star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was noticeably off. Although St. Brown was targeted 12 times, he caught only two passes for 42 yards.

Goff dismissed the idea that the performance would impact their long-term connection.
“I consider that an outlier,” Goff said. “We learn from it, look at it, and get better. No big conversation needed.”

Lions Look Ahead to Matchup With Giants

The Lions will try to rebound in Week 12 when they return to Ford Field to host the New York Giants. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m., and Detroit will wear its black alternate uniforms for the second time this season.
