The Dallas Cowboys’ playoff hopes are dwindling after their loss to the Detroit Lions on Thursday night, which snapped their three-game winning streak and lowered their postseason chances to just 9%. However, if the team manages to win all four remaining games, their odds would rise to about 47%—though they would still need a fair amount of luck along the way.
Team owner Jerry Jones remains upbeat despite the grim outlook. Speaking to 105.3 The Fan on Friday, he admitted that while he knows the odds are tough, he enjoys “daydreaming” and believes that unexpected events can happen in the NFL.
“I knew what was on the line regarding our playoff chances,” Jones said. “We have a better team than what we showed last night. Detroit is strong, but our team is better. Can we win all our remaining games? Absolutely. Will it be tough? Definitely. But a lot of unusual things happen in this league. I like reflecting on what could have been, and daydreaming doesn’t stop me from focusing on the present or future.”
Jones emphasized that the Cowboys must improve their play but believes they have the ability to perform better than they did against Detroit.
“If we come out and play at our best, there’s still a slim chance we could be playing in the playoffs,” he added.
Looking ahead, the Cowboys’ remaining schedule includes:
Week 15: vs. Minnesota Vikings
Week 16: vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Week 17: at Washington Commanders
Week 18: at New York Giants
Of these opponents, only the Chargers have a winning record, and Dallas has already beaten both Washington and New York. While winning all four games is within reach, the team will still need some help to secure a postseason spot.
