Despite a frustrating and inconsistent 2025 NFL season, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff is standing firmly behind the organization. While the Lions have failed to match last year’s success, Goff made it clear he still believes in the team’s direction, leadership, and long-term vision in Allen Park.
Speaking to reporters after practice, Goff was asked directly whether he still trusts the Lions’ front office and coaching staff amid growing outside criticism. His response left little room for doubt.
“I trust those guys immensely. They’re the ones who trusted me, and I trust the hell out of them,” Goff said, via Lions OnSI. “I know they’re going to get things right… They’re as urgent and intentional about putting us in a better position and getting us in a spot where we can win more games next year as anybody.”
Those words carry weight in a season where Detroit has struggled to find consistency and close out tight games.

Now in his early 30s and still producing at a high statistical level, Goff acknowledged how quickly fortunes can change in the NFL. According to the Lions quarterback, the difference between winning and losing often comes down to the smallest details.
“The margin is just so thin,” Goff explained. “Last year we were on the right side of a lot of these close games… and then this year you’re on the wrong side of a lot of these, for our own doing. It’s not because of anything else.”
Detroit benefited from those narrow victories a season ago. In 2025, those same moments have flipped the other way — a reality Goff says comes down to execution, communication, and discipline.
“It’s a reminder of the work and the execution, communication — putting in all the time and hours in the intentional way to be on the right side of those margins,” he added. “That’s our whole league… you’ve got to find a way to do it a little more than the other guy.”
Lions Looking Ahead to 2026 With Confidence
While the Lions’ season hasn’t met expectations, Goff’s message was far from negative. Instead, it was calm, accountable, and forward-looking.
He believes Detroit still has:
A competitive roster
A committed coaching staff
A strong organizational foundation
