The summer is beginning to see official trips scheduled for the BYU football team. Jag Iaone, a well-known local player, declared on Saturday that he would be making an official trip to BYU. Ioane trains at Orem High School, which is located just outside the BYU campus. He is the first member of the 2027 class to declare his intention to pay an official visit to BYU.
According to 247Sports, Ioane is a middle three-star prospect. He has rival offers from Utah, Washington, Boise State, Utah State, Washington State, Oregon State, and UNLV. He just stated that he will be making an official trip to Utah as well.
On film, Ioane’s speed and height are noticeable. He is lightning fast at 6’4″, and his physique indicates that his recruiting profile may improve over the coming months. After he develops into his physique, he might become a starting-caliber P4 player. His current weight is 195 pounds.
Ioane had 31 total tackles last year at Orem, which included 10 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, and 10 quarterback hurries. You can see his junior highlights in the video below.
In the 2027 class, Ioane is among the top 10 prospects in the state of Utah. Coming off their best recruiting class since recruiting rankings became popular in the early 2000s, the Cougars are ready to recruit. One of the main causes of BYU’s historic class was in-state recruiting. BYU signed 8 of the top 16 players in the state, including 5 of the top 10.
Once more, BYU will give priority to in-state recruits like Ioane in the 2027 recruiting class.
June Official Visit Window
The timing of formal visits has drastically shifted over the past five years. In the past, the majority of BYU’s formal visits were held in December. College football teams were permitted to host official visitors in the summer with the introduction of the early signing period. The number of scheduled and official trips increases every year during the summer.
The majority of BYU’s formal visits were planned during the month of June last year.
Most of the Cougars’ official visitors were hosted in late June of last year. During one significant recruitment weekend, BYU hosted sixteen official guests. Ten of them, including five-star quarterback Ryder Lyons, weren’t committed to BYU when the visits began.
Without a doubt, BYU made the most of that big recruiting weekend. Actually, that’s likely an underestimate. Nine out of the ten players who were still undecided made a commitment to BYU.
