The Luton Town forward was compelled to leave the field against AFC Wimbledon, thus Nahki Wells may be up against a race against time to be declared fit to play in the EFL Trophy Final.

The former Huddersfield Town player only lasted 17 minutes in South West London on Easter Monday, when Ali Al-Hamadi took his place and scored the second goal in the Hatters’ 3-0 victory.

Wells to Undergo Scan

Jack Wilshere’s team has had trouble finding a reliable starting striker throughout the season, and it now appears that they will arrive to Wembley with only Al-Hamadi and January acquisition Devante Cole as viable options.

Following hip surgery last week, which occurred only a few days after Elijah Adebayo made his long-awaited comeback from an ACL injury, it was determined that he would miss the rest of the season.

Speaking to the Royal Gazette about the reason for his substitution during the first half, Wells stated:

“I couldn’t go on since I felt my groin. ” I don’t believe it’s awful, but I won’t be able to assess how terrible it is until I’ve scanned it.

The late-season bloom goes on.

Even if Nahki Wells’ setback will somewhat temper the atmosphere in the Luton Town camp, they are hitting their stride at the ideal time to try and turn around the club’s decline over the previous two years.

The 35-year-old is currently questionable to play Stockport County at Wembley, but the defeat has occurred at a time when Ali Al-Hamadi has finally gained some traction, leading Iraq to the World Cup during the international break and scoring his first goal for the team at Plough Lane, his previous home.

With only the former Stoke City player and Devante Cole as their senior attacking choices, it now leaves them lacking in offensive possibilities, but according to Wells’ statements, it won’t be long before the seasoned player joins them.

Town will go into the EFL Trophy Final with a lot of confidence, with their recent performance over the last five games being the joint-best of any League One team, along with runaway leaders Lincoln City.

A victory against Stockport will not only return some silverware to Kenilworth Road, but it will also demonstrate that they are capable of facing and defeating another play-off contending team. This might be crucial if they want to make up the deficit to sixth-place Stevenage, who has a game in hand on Wilshere’s team.
