Perhaps ESPN personality and New York Knicks superfan Stephen A. Smith should thank WWE superstar Danhausen for breaking his curse, as well as fellow fan Anne Hathaway for assisting the squad in advancing in the playoffs after defeating the Atlanta Hawks in Game 6.
Danhausen responded to the Knicks’ 51-point thrashing of the Hawks on X, previously Twitter, by calling out Smith, writing, “Everyone better thank Danhausen and Anne Hathaway for joining forces,” and tagging ESPN and Smith.
Smith has yet to reply, but we may anticipate him to continue his dispute with Danhausen. After the Knicks lost 2-1 to the Hawks in the series, he “cursed” the team.
Of course, Danhausen is also referencing the viral Hathaway memes that followed OG Anunoby’s 29-point game. Before the game, Hathaway told Jimmy Fallon that she considered wearing Anunoby’s uniform to The Tonight Show.
Danhausen also shot a video of himself saying, “Boom! What about the Knicks? Give me some money! ” It is uncertain if he will keep his curse lifted.
The Knicks broke their curse, defeating the Hawks to proceed to the following round of the playoffs.
On Thursday, April 30, 2026, the Knicks played the Hawks in Game 6 of their playoff series. If the Knicks won, they would advance. If they lose, they will play Game 7 at Madison Square Garden.
They left little room for discussion with their victory. The Knicks defeated the Hawks by 51 points, and the game was never competitive. Now, they will watch as the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers compete in Game 7 to decide their opponent.
The Knicks were behind 2-1 at one point in the series. They seemed to be lost after losing two consecutive games by only one point. They then won all three final games by more than ten points. The last two were landslides, with New York winning Games 5 and 6 by 29 and 51 points, respectively.
