The Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers will meet in Game 7 on Saturday night, and Joel Embiid understands what the 76ers need to do to win.
Embiid has a 0-3 record against the Celtics in postseason series throughout his career. He was well aware of this reality when questioned about playing them in Game 7. In reality, this will be the first time Embiid has had the opportunity to knock the Celtics out of contention. During Embiid’s stint with the squad, the 76ers have never won more than two games in a playoff series against the Celtics—until this year.
“I’ve been playing with these guys for so long,” Embiid stated, according to MassLive’s Souichi Terada. “I’m sick of losing to them. ” So, we have the opportunity to achieve something remarkable. They make a fantastic team. You look at all they own. That is a formidable squad. We just have to approach this game with the same mentality that we’ve had for the previous two games. One play at a time. Tough environment, but we’ve been there before. We won two games over there. “
Embiid only appeared in 38 regular-season games, and his most recent appearance was on April 6, prior to Game 4 of this series. In Game 6, he scored 19 points and grabbed 10 boards. He was two assists away from a triple-double. He knows what is at stake on Saturday night, but is certain that the 76ers can go into Boston and win, as they have done twice in this series.
Embiid acknowledged the Celtics’ excellence. However, he believes that the attitude the 76ers have been playing with is sufficient to complete the task.
The Celtics are the Eastern Conference’s No. 2 seed, and a first-round defeat would be a big setback. To defeat a motivated Embiid and 76ers squad, the Celtics will need their own stars to step up in a significant way.
