One of the country’s top athletes has committed to play football at LSU, and he wants to play basketball for Will Wade and the Tigers men’s team. Ruston High’s Ahmad Hudson is rated as the nation’s top tight end for the Class of 2027, as well as the state’s finest basketball player. Aaron Dietrich, KNOE-TV Sports Director:

“He’s simply an amazing athlete. You’re talking about a youngster who is 6-foot-6 and weighs between 240 and 250 pounds. He is unique. “He’s that special,” Dietrich remarked.

Hudson coached both the Ruston football and boys’ basketball teams to state titles last season. He caught 41 receptions for 718 yards and six touchdowns for the Bearcats on the football field, and he was recently named Louisiana’s Mr. Basketball after averaging 20 points and 13 rebounds each game.

Dietrich claims that Hudson intends to participate in both football and basketball at LSU.

“Nothing has stopped him down yet. Why should you restrict him? However, earning a double in football and basketball is extremely difficult, according to Dietrich.

Hudson’s father, Antonio Hudson, was a member of the LSU basketball team from 2002 to 2005. More than 30 power conference institutions offered Hudson a scholarship, but according to Dietrich, it boiled down to a Big Ten school and LSU.

“It came down between LSU and Nebraska. We know how far Lincoln, Nebraska, is from Ruston, Louisiana. I believe that had a lot to do with it as well,” Dietrich said.

Hudson has one more season at Ruston before joining the LSU campus. LSU also gained a commitment over the weekend from corner Lavonte Williams, a junior college transfer from South Carolina. He will be able to assist the Tigers beginning this year.
