The Milwaukee Bucks are considering trading for Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant. Here’s how Milwaukee might acquire the guard.
An NBA offseason deal idea has been developed that would send Ja Morant from the Memphis Grizzlies to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Siddhant Gupta of Fadeaway World proposed the following trade between the Grizzlies and the Bucks:

Milwaukee Bucks get Ja Morant.

Memphis Grizzlies Receive: Kyle Kuzma, Bobby Portis, Kevin Porter Jr. , Gary Trent Jr. , and a 2027 draft pick. First-round pick (NOP swap).

According to sources, the Bucks are anticipated to seek a swap for Morant this summer. According to sources, Memphis will trade Morant this summer.

The Bucks were considering trading for Morant at the February trade deadline. That curiosity will intensify now that Milwaukee has recruited former Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins. Morant liked performing for Jenkins in Memphis, according to sources.

Ja will earn $42. 1 million next season, with $44 million in the 2027-28 season, the final year of his contract. The 26-year-old does not have a no-trade clause in his contract, which means he cannot influence where the Grizzlies trade him this summer.

This season, in 20 games for Memphis, Morant averaged 19. 5 points, 3. 3 rebounds, and 8. 1 assists per game while shooting 41. 0% from the field, 23. 5% from beyond the arc, and 89. 7% from the free-throw line.

Morant, the 2019-20 Rookie of the Year, has only guided the Grizzlies to the second round of the playoffs once. That was in 2022 with Jenkins.

Morant has career stats of 22. 4 points, 4. 6 rebounds, and 7. 4 assists each game. Aside from the Bucks, Ja has been connected to the Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Sacramento Kings, and Phoenix Suns in trade speculations.

According to ESPN, Morant has told others that he is finished playing for the Grizzlies, who picked the guard with the second overall choice in the 2019 NBA Draft from Murray State.

Morant, a two-time All-Star, is still furious about the Grizzlies suspending him earlier this season for behavior detrimental to the team.

Morant is still not over the suspension, according to many league sources, since he felt alienated by teammates who were instructed to leave the star guard alone so he could deal with the issues that had caused the suspension. Following the event, Morant informed players across the league and some of his former coaches that he would no longer play for Memphis, according to ESPN.

It will be interesting to see where Morant plays next season. According to sources, the Grizzlies and Bucks will begin talks for a Morant deal as soon as the 2026 NBA Finals conclude.
