The Detroit Lions are ready to make some noise throughout the 2026 NFL season. Detroit picked young players in the 2026 NFL Draft, improving their offensive line with their first two selections. However, if one intended transaction had occurred, things may have looked significantly different.

According to a new video released by the Ravens, the Lions tried to swap up to the 14th overall selection in the draught.

According to the film, Detroit offered a 2026 fourth-round selection (118th overall) and a 2027 third-round pick in exchange for first-round choices. According to Jimmy Johnson’s trading worth chart, that is a very reasonable offer to move up three slots in the first round. However, it is difficult to ascertain the value of 2027 draft picks next spring.

Detroit’s offer came after Dallas had traded up for Caleb Downs.

Alabama offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor was still available, implying that he might be a Detroit target. The Lions were heavily associated with Proctor during the pre-draft procedure.

The Dolphins eventually selected Proctor with the 12th overall pick. Then, when the Ravens were finally on the clock, the Lions withdrew from the trade plan and refused to move up the draft board.

In the end, everything worked out well for Detroit. The Lions used their first-round selection on tackle Blake Miller, addressing a significant gap on the offensive line. Since they did not trade up, they had draft money to move up in the second round for EDGE Derrick Moore.

Lions GM Brad Holmes has demonstrated a willingness to do everything possible to get players he wants in the draft. Hopefully, the 2026 draft class will help the Lions return to the playoffs later this year.
