The Duke basketball program has maintained interest in 4-star 2027 prospect Kager Knueppel, the sibling of previous Duke basketball freshman sensation Kon Knueppel.

Kon played for the Blue Devils in 2024-25 before declaring for the 2025 NBA Draft, where he was taken fourth overall by the Charlotte Hornets. Knueppel had a very successful rookie season, averaging 18. 5 points per game while shooting 42. 5% from three-point range on 7. 9 attempts each game.

Knueppel not only topped the NBA in three-pointers made with 273 this regular season, but he also broke the NBA rookie record for three-pointers made in a season.

During his time with the Blue Devils, the Wisconsin native scored 14. 4 points per game while shooting 40. 6% from beyond the arc on 5. 3 attempts, earning him ACC Tournament MVP honors. Now, head coach Jon Scheyer and his crew are interested in Kager, his younger brother.

Duke Interested in 2027. 4-Star Prospect Kager Knueppel

According to the 247Sports 2027 Composite Rankings, Knueppel, a Wisconsin Lutheran product, is the No. 79 overall player, No. 11 power forward, and No. 5 player in the state of Wisconsin. Duke made the 6’9, 205-pound forward an offer in April, and Knueppel has offers from Toledo, DePaul, Purdue, and Wisconsin.

According to sources, the Duke program intends to invite Knueppel for an official visit in the near future. Knueppel was the first 2027 prospect to receive an offer from the Blue Devils, indicating that Scheyer and Co. are making it a priority to bring the great guy to Durham to follow in his older brother’s footsteps.

5-star recruit Beckham Black, brother of Orlando Magic guard Anthony Black, is the only other prospect in the 2027 recruiting class to receive an offer from Duke.

However, Knueppel wants to stress that he is not simply following his older brother, Kon, to Durham.

Kager Knueppel slows Duke commitment hype.

Knueppel stated in a recent interview with Rivals that he will be reviewing other institutions and would not just follow his brother to Duke.

It is not only completely Duke. It’s my own way, so I’ll visit other schools and be interested in them, Knueppel explained.

The Blue Devils clearly have an advantage due to the Knueppel family connections to the Duke program, but Knueppel is emphasizing that his options are still open.
