Incoming Duke rookie Deron Rippey Jr. is regarded as one of the finest players in the nation. Rippey, a five-star prospect according to most platforms, will have a legitimate chance to not only make an immediate impact at Duke, but also to be one of the first players picked in the 2027 NBA Draft if he performs as well as many expect.
Making an immediate impact as a freshman at a major university such as Duke, playing in the ACC, is difficult, but as the Blue Devils have learned over the last few years with Cooper Flagg, Cameron Boozer, Kon Knueppel, and some other freshmen, Jon Scheyer has clearly recruited enough talent to guarantee that his freshmen have a chance to come in and make that impact immediately.
