Being married to an NFL quarterback may look glamorous from the outside, but for Christen Goff, game day is anything but relaxing.
The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model recently shared what it’s really like watching her husband, Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff, take the field every week. Speaking on PEOPLE’s WAG World series, Christen explained that game days are filled with emotions, nerves, and responsibilities as both a supportive wife and a mother.
“Game day is not butterflies and roses,” Christen said. “We’re locked in. It’s my game day, too.”
While fans focus on the action on the field, Christen says she experiences the game from a completely different perspective. Rather than simply cheering from the stands, she spends the day balancing multiple concerns, including her husband’s safety, performance, and overall well-being.
“The person you love the most is out there,” she explained. “You want them to stay safe, you want them to be healthy, you want them to do well, and you want them to be happy with the outcome.”
The 33-year-old model also revealed that life has changed significantly since she and Jared welcomed their daughter, Romy, in July 2025. While game-day stress remains, motherhood has provided a valuable sense of perspective.
According to Christen, caring for her daughter helps keep her grounded, even during the most intense moments of a Lions game.
“She needs me even if it’s two minutes before halftime and the game is crazy,” Christen said. “I have to tend to her. It’s just a new shift in life.”
Christen and Jared’s relationship dates back to 2019. The couple became engaged in 2022 before tying the knot in California in June 2024. Since then, they have continued to support one another’s careers, with Christen building a successful modeling career while Jared remains one of the NFL’s most recognizable quarterbacks.
Beyond her family life, Christen also praised the close-knit community of NFL wives and girlfriends. She described the group as supportive, helpful, and a valuable resource for parenting advice and navigating the unique challenges that come with life in professional football.
“The women are so connected. They’re so helpful,” Christen said. “It’s just the most beautiful little community.”
As she continues balancing motherhood, modeling, and supporting one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks, Christen’s candid comments offer a glimpse into the realities behind the spotlight and the emotional investment that comes with being part of an NFL family.
