Frank Lampard has been named EFL Championship Manager of the Year after leading Coventry City to promotion. The former Chelsea midfielder has had a superb season, guaranteeing the club a place in the Premier League next season.
The Sky Blues have already scored 86 points this season, with three games remaining as they seek to win the championship. Regardless of whether they win the title, Lampard has already received individual accolades for his efforts.
“I’m very happy; while it is an individual trophy, it requires everyone at the club,” he added. It’s been a fantastic year, which is a credit to everyone involved.

On Sunday evening, the 47-year-old won the Championship Manager of the Season award during the EFL awards ceremony. Several Coventry players were also recognised, with many earning positions in the Championship Team of the Season.
Goalkeeper Carl Rushworth was chosen, along with Milan van Ewijk, Matt Grimes, and Haji Wright. Coventry will attempt to clinch the Championship title in midweek when they face Portsmouth at the CBS Arena.
They wrap up their season with games against Wrexham and Watford. After Coventry’s promotion was verified, Lampard remarked, “It’s incredible. “
I’ve already addressed the fan base, what they’ve been through, and the many disappointments that have kept them faithful to the club and its history. And then they got to have this moment. It’s a serious football club. I didn’t even know.
I was familiar with the history. I knew Coventry as a child. Coventry competed in the Premier League and First Division. But this incredible fan support, what it means to the city, and what these athletes have accomplished are all remarkable.
We joined 15 months ago, ranked 17th in the league. Mark Robins has done an outstanding job in returning them to where they used to be. But then to go on and achieve automatic promotion as a non-parachute club with three games to spare.
Those youngsters there, how they have listened, trained, and done everything every day. It makes me feel emotional because they are such wonderful people to work with, and they deserve every second of celebrating and getting the job done.
This league is difficult. It’s becoming more challenging because even the teams battling for relegation have players and squads. People believe it is simple.
It is not. It’s more difficult. And these youngsters have accomplished something extremely unique, special, and remarkable. I’m delighted.
Lampard remarked on how his team had handled the pressure: I aim to be explicit and forthright about it. I don’t like to talk much. My circumstances 15 years ago in a big game may be different from theirs, but it is one of the benefits of having a long career and then moving into management. You’ve lived it.
