On Monday night, Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell made a bold call by starting his key players against the San Francisco 49ers.
Despite the result, the Lions could still clinch the NFC’s top seed by beating the Minnesota Vikings in the final regular season game.
Quarterback Jared Goff sympathized with Campbell’s difficult choice but believed starting the top players was the right move. “I know that was tough for him, but that’s just who we are,” Goff said, supporting Campbell’s decision.
“We just go out there to win, and since we were playing San Francisco – the team that ended our season last year – many guys wanted redemption. Even though the game didn’t matter much for either side, everyone played with pride. They wanted to beat us, and we wanted to beat them. It was a fun game.” Goff threw for 303 yards and three touchdowns, making NFL history along the way.
Before the game, Goff’s wife, Christen, shared wedding photos on social media with the caption, “Moments from my favorite day of 2024.” The original article contains embedded media.
Kristin Juszczyk, wife of 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk – who scored a touchdown that night – left a three-word comment for Harper.
“Real life princess!” she wrote under the post ahead of the Lions-49ers game. Goff and the Lions secured a 40-34 victory and now aim for the NFC’s No. 1 seed.
