The NFL regular season concluded with a “Sunday Night Football” showdown between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings.
In Week 18, the Lions triumphed over the Vikings 31-9, boosting their record to 15-2, while Minnesota dropped to 14-3.
NBC Sports aired the “Sunday Night Football” clash between the NFC rivals. After the game, the network’s PR team shared the official viewership figures from Week 18.
The Lions-Vikings game drew 28.5 million average viewers, giving NBC its largest “Sunday Night Football” audience since 2012.
Detroit delivered an impressive performance in the Week 18 matchup, particularly on offense.
Quarterback Jared Goff spearheaded the effort with 231 yards and a touchdown, completing 27 of 33 passes. While Goff led the offense, running back Jahmyr Gibbs shined, scoring three rushing touchdowns with 139 yards and adding 31 receiving yards, a touchdown, and five receptions.
With the win, Goff and the Lions secured the NFC’s No. 1 seed, while the Vikings landed the No. 5 seed in the NFC playoff standings.
Detroit earned a first-round bye, while Minnesota will face the Los Angeles Rams in a Wild Card game on Jan. 13.
