Quentin Lake, a defensive back for the Los Angeles Rams, made sure to take note of Dan Campbell’s comment following the Detroit Lions’ win over the Minnesota Vikings. In the aftermath of the Lions’ 31-9 victory on Sunday night, which secured their second consecutive NFC North title and the top playoff seed in the NFC, Campbell was heard telling Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell, “I’ll see you in two weeks.” The Rams, with a win, had clinched the No. 4 seed, setting up a wild-card matchup with the Vikings on January 13.
Lake, who appeared on The Insiders on NFL Network, responded to Campbell’s comment, emphasizing that the Vikings shouldn’t underestimate the Rams. “I hope they don’t overlook us,” Lake remarked. “We’re a team with everything needed to succeed in the playoffs, and we’ll be ready for Monday night.” He expressed confidence in his team’s capabilities after a midseason turnaround, pointing out that the Rams finished strong after a rough start to the season.
Lake, like millions of other viewers, watched the Lions-Vikings game and saw the possibility of facing Minnesota in the playoffs. The Rams’ defensive back acknowledged that Campbell’s words weren’t necessarily meant to be disrespectful, but instead, the exchange reflected the fierce competition between the teams. Still, Lake made it clear that the Vikings should be cautious about taking the Rams lightly.
“They have to see us too,” Lake added. “You can’t overlook anyone, and while the comment might not have been meant to dismiss us, it gives us some extra motivation.” He stressed that the Rams are fully focused on their upcoming matchup and are determined not to let any perceived disrespect affect their preparation.
The Rams will face the Vikings at SoFi Stadium on January 13, and Lake wants to ensure that the Vikings are fully prepared. “We have to focus on them and perform our best,” Lake said. “But I hope that comment doesn’t make the Vikings underestimate us. They still have to come to SoFi.”
