Saturday night was a tough one for Detroit sports fans, as the Washington Commanders pulled off a stunning playoff win over the Detroit Lions, while Kevin Durant made his own statement both on the basketball court and on social media.

Before the Phoenix Suns faced the Detroit Pistons, Durant was seen sporting a Brian Robinson Commanders jersey, a clear show of his long-standing support for Washington’s NFL team. Things took an interesting turn when Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs celebrated his opening touchdown by mimicking Durant’s famous tunnel dance from his Golden State Warriors days. However, Durant got the final word, as the Commanders rallied to defeat the Lions 45-31 in a surprising playoff upset. Durant then had some fun trolling Detroit fans on X (formerly Twitter), reposting the original tunnel dance video from eight years ago with the playful caption, “Have a great night Detroit.”

Later that evening, Durant solidified his dominance on the court, leading the Suns to a 125-121 win over the Pistons, posting 36 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. This win added to the tough night for Detroit fans, whose NFL and NBA teams both fell short. For Durant and the Suns, the victory represented a step toward recovery in what has been a challenging season. Sitting 11th in the Western Conference, they remain just two games behind the sixth-place Los Angeles Lakers, with Durant’s leadership playing a key role in keeping their playoff dreams alive.

Meanwhile, the Commanders are celebrating a huge playoff victory, moving closer to their first Super Bowl appearance since 1991. As the events of the night unfolded, Durant’s winning streak—both on and off the court—was clearly on display.
