Penei Sewell’s wife, Isabelle, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram after the Detroit Lions’ playoff defeat. The Lions, who had an impressive 15-2 record in the regular season and secured the No. 1 NFC seed, were unexpectedly eliminated in the Divisional Round by the Washington Commanders, losing 45-31 at home. Despite Sewell’s stellar performance, the loss ended the team’s playoff hopes early.
Isabelle Sewell, who is expecting their third child in 2025, posted a touching tribute to her husband on social media. She expressed immense pride in his accomplishments over the season and assured him that the family’s love and admiration remain unwavering, regardless of the outcome. “Although the season didn’t end as we hoped, it doesn’t take away from your amazing achievements,” she wrote. “We’re so proud of you and look forward to spending time together during the off-season.”
She added, “Win or lose, you are the heart of our family, our superhero, the best dad and husband, and we will love you always and forever. What an incredible season—see you back in September. Go Lions!”
Penei Sewell responded to Isabelle’s message with deep gratitude, saying, “Thank you for everything, love. There’s no purpose in life without y’all.”
The couple, who married in July 2024, have two children: son Malakai, aged 2, and daughter Mila, who will turn one in April. They announced in October that they are expecting their third child in spring 2025. Sewell, a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, continues to be recognized as one of the league’s top offensive tackles.
