Brendan Sorsby has been on a medical leave of absence since then to deal with his gambling addiction. That marked the beginning of a process that involved legal counsel. It was reported on Monday that Sorsby’s legal team filed a lawsuit against the NCAA in an effort to expedite the case.
The Red Raiders have not yet submitted a petition for reinstatement to the NCAA as of yesterday afternoon, according to another statement. The athletic department issued the following statement regarding the restoration request shortly after Pete Nakos of On3 shared the reported statement.
The University has deemed Sorsby ineligible to compete after reaching an agreed-upon set of facts between Texas Tech University, the NCAA, and Brendan Sorsby. Texas Tech plans to start the reinstatement procedure right away.
