Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions wrapped up an impressive season with a 15-3 record, making them one of the most dominant teams in the NFL. They entered the playoffs as the top seed in the NFC. However, despite their strong regular season, the Lions were eliminated in the Divisional Round with a 45-31 defeat to the Washington Commanders. Following this tough loss, the NFL delivered exciting news to the Lions via its official social media. Goff was named a finalist for the AP Most Valuable Player of the Year award.

The quarterback had a standout season, totaling 37 touchdowns and 4,629 passing yards while completing 72.4% of his throws. He ranked second in the league for passing yards and fourth for passing touchdowns, and his QBR of 68.4 placed him sixth overall. Goff’s leadership helped the Lions average 33.2 points and 423.9 yards per game. In their playoff loss, the team still managed to rack up 521 total yards and 30 first downs, though they struggled with a 3-of-9 third-down conversion rate.

Other MVP finalists include Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Saquon Barkley, and Lamar Jackson. The winner will be announced on February 6 at the NFL awards ceremony in New Orleans.
