As the Detroit Lions’ season came to an end with a tough Divisional Round loss to the Washington Commanders, focus quickly shifted to the offseason and what lies ahead for the team. One of the biggest questions surrounding the Lions is the future of starting right guard Kevin Zeitler. The veteran lineman had a crucial role in Detroit’s success this season, but his year was cut short due to an injury in Week 18.

The speculation about Zeitler possibly retiring has been ongoing, with many wondering if the 13-year veteran might call it a career. However, recent comments from his wife, Sara Zeitler, may have cleared up that uncertainty. On Tuesday, she posted a tweet revealing some insight into his plans for next season. In her tweet, she wrote, “Year 13 ended too early but I’m forever proud of you @kzeit70. Can’t wait to see what year 14 holds 💙🤍.” This message suggests that Zeitler might be returning for a 14th season, bringing hope to Lions fans.

If Zeitler decides to come back for another year, it would be a huge boost to Detroit’s offensive line. Even though his 2024 campaign was cut short, Zeitler’s performance this year was solid, and his leadership has been critical to the team’s success. With the Lions needing stability up front, keeping Zeitler would provide a reliable veteran presence, ensuring the offensive line remains strong moving forward.

Although Zeitler’s future is still uncertain, Sara’s tweet offers a glimpse of optimism. As the offseason unfolds, the Lions will likely keep a close watch on his decision, with one less question mark on the horizon. For now, fans can remain hopeful that the 34-year-old guard will be back to help lead the team into the future.
