Cooper Kupp, a star wide receiver for the Los Angeles Rams, seems poised for a move. After the Rams were eliminated by the Eagles in the divisional round of the playoffs, Kupp revealed that he and the team had mutually decided to part ways. As he enters his age-32 season, Kupp remains one of the NFL’s top receivers, and the trade market for him is expected to be competitive.
Currently, the Denver Broncos are the frontrunners to trade for Kupp, with odds of +450. The Broncos have the salary cap flexibility to take on Kupp’s hefty contract, which carries a $29.78 million cap hit and takes up 10.78% of their salary cap. However, the Detroit Lions are also gaining traction, with odds now sitting at +550, up from +800, reflecting increased interest from bettors.
Kupp’s contract and salary cap implications mean that any potential suitor would need ample space, and it’s been reported that Kupp is unwilling to renegotiate his deal. Detroit, under head coach Dan Campbell, is known for valuing playmakers on offense, and Kupp could be a perfect fit. Although Kupp’s production dipped in 2024—amassing just 710 yards in 12 games—he attributed his lower target share to the team’s offensive scheme and coaching, with second-year receiver Puka Nacua stepping up in his place.
