Amid continuing rumours of a summer move, Sunderland attacker Noah Sadiki says, “we will see” what the future holds,” with links to Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea in recent weeks.
The Black Cats midfielder has emerged as one of the standout players in Regis Le Bris’ squad, which is still in contention for European participation.
Sunderland were widely expected to be relegated back to the Championship after last season’s play-off victory, but wise summer acquisitions, combined with a mix of youth and experience, have placed them for a possible late European campaign bid.
Sadiki has proven critical to Sunderland’s outstanding season this term, after joining the club from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise in the summer. Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool have all reportedly shown interest in signing Sadiki in recent weeks.
Sadiki spoke to Belgian newspaper La Dernière Heure after returning to USG, but kept quiet about his future possibilities.
Reflecting on his debut season in English football and the upcoming World Cup, he commented: It’s fantastic to be experiencing everything that’s happening to me right now.
Everything happened so quickly: the relocation to England shortly after winning the championship in Belgium, and then being a starter in England right away. Since my departure from Union SG, I haven’t had time to properly comprehend what has occurred.
I’m talking about Union in England; the English understand who they are and couldn’t disregard the performances in the Champions League.
My future? I still have two games to play with Sunderland before the World Cup, which will be extremely special for the Congolese people. And for the remainder, we’ll see next season when the moment is appropriate.
ChronicleLive understands that Sunderland has no intention of parting with Sadiki this summer, but they would not prohibit his departure if a offer meets their asking price, as they did with Jobe Bellingham and Tommy Watson.
Following an excellent return season in the top division, the Black Cats expect significant interest in several of their star players, with goalkeeper Robin Roefs attracting attention from Premier League clubs.
Manchester United are looking to bolster their midfield alternatives this summer, following Casemiro’s departure when his contract expires.
The Old Trafford club faces a big challenge in locating a suitable replacement for the Brazilian, with Sandro Tonali, Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba, and Joao Gomes among the names rumored to be targets.
