The Florida Gators have received major news from yet another top recruiting target.

The Florida Gators have been on a recruiting tear lately, with Jon Sumrall landing some of the top players on the circuit.

Florida recently bagged a commitment from five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller, and over the weekend, the Gators landed four-star wide receiver Anthony Jennings.

And it appears that Sumrall is far from done.

Florida could be closing in on yet another top recruit, as four-star 2027 safety Kailib Dillard has set a commitment date for May 5 with Florida, Georgia and Oregon as his three finalists.

Dillard’s prospect status depends on who you ask. While Rivals has him tabbed as a four-star recruit, 247 Sports has him listed a three-star. He is ranked 43rd among 2027 safeties in 247 Sports’ composite rankings, but he is certainly a touted prospect overall.

The Jenks, Ok. native has received offers from 21 schools, including Arizona State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas Tech in addition to his three finalists.

Florida made its offer to Dillard back in January, a couple of months after Sumrall took over as Gators head coach.

Sumrall has already secured commitments from 10 players for the 2027 class. In addition to the five-star Hiller, he has also snatched five four-star talents.

The Gators currently own the 10th-ranked 2027 recruiting class in the country, via 247 Sports.

It’s certainly a welcome change for Florida, which went just 4-8 last season and has posted four losing campaigns over its last five years.

Sumrall is obviously hoping to change that immediately.

The 43-year-old had previously served as head coach of Troy and Tulane, splitting four years between both schools. He went 43-12 throughout that span, most recently leading Tulane to an 11-3 record and a College Football Playoff appearance.

Of course, coaching in the SEC is an entirely different animal, so we will have to see how Sumrall adjusts to life in a Power-4 conference.

Thus far, however, he seems to be doing a tremendous job, having put together a fantastic transfer portal haul in addition to his recruiting activity.

Florida will open up its 2026 campaign against Florida Atlantic on Sept. 5.
