The New York Knicks continue to dominate. Despite OG Anunoby’s hamstring injury, the Knicks overcame the Philadelphia 76ers 108-94 in Game 3 on Friday night, giving them a commanding 3-0 series lead. This game hardly felt like a road game since many Knicks fans attended Xfinity Mobile Arena, making it feel as if the series was still in the Garden.
This was a crucial game for the Knicks to win since no NBA team has ever returned from a 3-0 series deficit in the playoffs. This 76ers team has defied trends in recent weeks, even making a comeback from a 3-1 deficit to the Boston Celtics, but they would have to do something that has never been done before to miraculously come back from this hole.
As is typical, Jalen Brunson carried the Knicks on his back. He ended with a game-high 33 points, shredding the 76ers’ defense while also recording five rebounds and nine assists. Mikal Bridges’ comeback continued, as he scored 23 points in favor of Brunson, shooting 8-14 from the field.
Every Knicks player took to the Xfinity Mobile Arena lights on Friday night. Karl-Anthony Towns filled the stat sheet with eight points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists. Josh Hart had a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds while also being a defensive pest.
Landry Shamet gave New York terrific minutes, scoring 15 points in 26 minutes off the bench and posting a plus-20 rating. Mitchell Robinson made things difficult for Joel Embiid.
Scoring this triumph without Anunoby is a tremendous accomplishment for the Knicks, since it allows them to bring him back gradually.
