After releasing Cory Trice Jr. , the Pittsburgh Steelers brought in a former safety from the New York Giants to help solve their secondary issues.
The Steelers revealed the addition of former Giants safety Makari Paige on Wednesday. Paige joined New York in 2025 as an undrafted free agent.
Paige played for the Michigan Wolverines from 2020 to 2024, totaling three interceptions and 135 tackles throughout his collegiate career.
Paige has not yet played in the NFL since his rookie season, when he was a member of the Giants’ practice squad. However, Paige performed admirably for New York in the previous preseason, so it’s not due to a lack of skill.
With the expectation that he might become a valuable depth addition, Paige is now a member of a talented safety group that includes Jalen Ramsey, Jaquan Brisker, DeShon Elliott, and possibly Darnell Savage Jr.
