Tywone Malone won a baseball national championship at Ole Miss before winning one in football at Ohio State. At one point, he was a starting defensive lineman for one of the top defenses in college football.

He is now an undrafted free agent in the NFL.

Following the conclusion of the draft, Tywone Malone signed with the New Orleans Saints. He will be reunited with undrafted free agent running back CJ Donaldson, who also signed with the Saints, and defensive back Lorenzo Styles Jr. , who was drafted by New Orleans in the fifth round.

Eleven players from Ohio State were selected in the NFL Draft: wide receiver Carnell Tate (fourth overall to the Tennessee Titans), linebacker Arvell Reese (fifth overall to the New York Giants), linebacker Sonny Styles (seventh overall to the Washington Commanders), safety Caleb Downs (eleventh overall to the Dallas Cowboys), defensive tackle Kayden McDonald (36th overall to the Houston Texans), tight end Max Klare (61st overall to the Los Angeles Rams), cornerback Davison Igbinosun (62nd overall to the Miami Dolphins), tight end Will Kacmarek (87th overall to the Miami Dolphins), defensive back Lorenzo Styles Jr. (172nd overall to the New Orleans Saints), defensive end Caden Curry (214th overall to the Indianapolis Colts), and offensive lineman Ethan Onianwa (231st overall to the Atlanta Falcons).

He had two pass deflections and 26 total tackles at the end of the previous season. Since his freshman year at Ole Miss in 2021, he has amassed a career total of 52 tackles, 3. 5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and four pass deflections in his five seasons playing collegiate football.

However, Tywone Malone is now on his way to the NFL after a protracted and twisting path through collegiate football that brought him to two separate locations and even saw him win two national championships in two different sports. In New Orleans, he will start his career as an undrafted free agency for the Saints.
