Wisconsin men’s basketball has acquired a sharp-shooting wing through the transfer portal.
Miami (Ohio) transfer Eian Elmer has committed to the Badgers, the team announced on April 18. The 6-foot-7 wing will join UW with one year of eligibility left.
In 2025-26, Elmer averaged a career-high 12. 7 points and 5. 9 rebounds while shooting 49. 8% from the field and 42. 9% from three-point range. His contribution helped the RedHawks to a 32-2 record and an at-large berth in the NCAA Tournament.
We are thrilled to join another outstanding addition to our spring signees, according to UW coach Greg Gard in a statement. Eian adds a lot of expertise and scoring to the 6-7 wing position. … A great shooter, his talents and output are ideal for our strategy as we put together next year’s squad. Throughout our evaluation process, our crew admired his size, strength, and talents, and they feel he will flourish in our culture.
Elmer is Wisconsin’s third transfer portal addition since the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, following former George Washington guard Trey Autry and former Hofstra forward Victory Onuetu. UW also acquired Australian guard Owen Foxwell.
The additions of Autry, Onuetu, and currently Elmer have left Gard’s squad with three roster spots to fill before the 2026-27 season.
The Badgers are seeking to replace a significant portion of their output from a 2025-26 team that finished 24-11. Nolan Winter is expected to be the team’s only returning starter, as John Blackwell and Aleksas Bieliauskas have joined the transfer portal, and Nick Boyd and Andrew Rohde have depleted their eligibility.
