The Detroit Lions published their three-game preseason schedule on Thursday, albeit without the dates, along with their regular season schedule announcement.
The schedule this year, as always, includes a few local rivals to reduce travel. Additionally, it’s important to remember that Lions head coach Dan Campbell has stated that he doesn’t want to participate in any joint practices this year. Therefore, Detroit’s only interaction with these three teams will be on game day.
All that being said, these preseason games may be somewhat more significant. Campbell said that because of the paucity of combined practices, he might be more inclined to utilize starters during the preseason than he has in the past.
“Perhaps that’s where they get some of it, maybe we play some of these men in the preseason more than we have,” Campbell remarked at the league’s annual meetings.
The preseason for Detroit begins with a trip to Ohio to face the Cincinnati Bengals. After that, they travel home for their lone preseason game, which is against the Washington Commanders. The preseason concludes with a trip to Indiana for their preseason finale against the Indianapolis Colts.
Or, to put it another way:
Week 1 of the Preseason: at Bengals
Preseason Week 2: vs. the Commanders
Preseason Week 3: at Colts
The Detroit Lions TV Network is anticipated to broadcast all preseason contests. Here you may discover which of your local channels broadcast that network.
The precise dates and times of these contests will be revealed in due course. Those specifics were revealed last year, only one week after the original schedule was made public.
