It is not based on AAU circuit, transfer portal, or late summer rankings increases. It is based on five years of professional basketball, over 100 games against men, and a consistent ascent from development player to starting point guard in one of the finest leagues outside of the NBA.
Now the path goes through Madison.
Foxwell, a 22-year-old left-handed guard from Australia, joins Wisconsin after averaging 11. 1 points, 3. 0 rebounds, and 4. 5 assists per game last season with the South East Melbourne Phoenix. He shot 41. 1% from the field, 35. 2% from three, and had 125 assists to 43 turnovers.
It’s production. But more than that, it’s experience.
So, when the opportunity arose to leave that atmosphere and pursue college basketball, the decision was more than just about timing. It was all about fit.
“The fit was perfect,” Foxwell said to BadgerNotes. “Talking to coach Krabb [Krabbenhoft], he gave me a lot of confidence that Wisconsin would be successful with me playing a major role in the program, which was very important. The primary goal for all of us is to win and be successful on the court, giving us the opportunity to compete for a national title.
