A couple of John Blackwell’s previous teammates immediately shared their views on his departure.
The Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball team suffered a significant setback on April 6, when its star point guard announced intentions to join the transfer gateway.
Blackwell left a farewell message that garnered varied reviews, but both Nolan Winter and Austin Rapp appreciated the chance to play alongside the Michigan native.

Rapp remarked, Gonna miss big bro, appreciate this year with you John Blackwell.
Winter has been with the Badgers since the 2023-24 season, the same year Blackwell joined the team. Rapp, the Portland transfer, was only able to spend one year with Wisconsin’s guard, who averaged just under 20 points per game.
Badger supporters are still awaiting decisions from Winter and Rapp, although neither has suggested that they would pursue their college careers elsewhere.
