The Wisconsin Badgers basketball team suffered a sad loss when John Blackwell joined the transfer portal. The star point guard will leave big shoes to fill as the signal caller of Wisconsin’s offense. Another major loss was guard Nick Boyd, who graduated after his senior year.

However, one star will return to the Badgers for his senior year.

Badgers basketball receives excellent news from soon-to-be senior.

Nolan Winter has confirmed that he will return for his senior year in 2026-27. The decision provides Wisconsin with great hope for the upcoming season, notably after being ousted by 12 seed High Point in the first round of the March Madness event.

The junior is coming off his finest season yet in his collegiate career, demonstrating that he is a budding celebrity. He ended the 2025-26 season with:

31 games played (30 starts)
.569 shooting percentage
.326 Three-point shooting percentage
.747 free throw percentage.
262 total rebounds.
48 assists
38 blocks
15 steals

Winter returning for his senior year alongside Austin Rapp might be a significant boost to the team’s big men scoring prowess. Rapp averaged almost ten points and four rebounds per game.

The Badgers are expected to pursue another seasoned forward/center through the transfer portal. They will also be looking for guards, since both Blackwell and Boyd have departed.
