Indiana University’s basketball team has officially confirmed the addition of Darren Harris, a guard transferring from Duke.
Standing 6-foot-5, Harris joins IU with two seasons of eligibility still available.
He participated in 57 games for Duke during his two years there.

Darren Harris Joins Indiana Men’s Basketball Team
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – On Monday afternoon, Darian DeVries, head coach for Indiana men’s basketball, revealed that Darren Harris, a guard expected to be a junior, has been added to the team. Harris, who was once ranked among the top 60 recruits, comes to Indiana following two years playing for Duke.
Over his two seasons with the Blue Devils, he accumulated 162 points, 54 rebounds, 20 assists, and 14 steals across 57 games. Teams he played for achieved a 55-2 record, and his career averages per 40 minutes were 13.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.2 steals.
He was a regular part of the team’s rotation, participating in 36 games as a reserve for Duke. During that season, the Blue Devils secured the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and reached the Elite Eight. He contributed an average of 3.3 points and 0.8 rebounds in 9.6 minutes per contest. Harris recorded shooting percentages of 36.3% (33-of-91) from field goals, 33.3% (23-of-69) from beyond the arc, and 76.9% (30-of-39) from the free-throw line.
Harris also played in 21 games as a bench player for Duke, with a team that reached the Final Four and included five future NBA Draft selections, three of whom were chosen in the top 10 of the first round. He averaged 2.0 points and 1.1 rebounds in 6.0 minutes per game during that period.
At St. Paul VI Catholic High School, he was recognized as a consensus four-star, top-60 prospect by both 247Sports and ESPN. Harris earned the title of 2023-24 Gatorade Virginia Player of the Year, posting averages of 17.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. As a senior, he guided St. Paul VI to a 33-2 season and secured both the conference (WCAC) and state (VISAA) championships. Additionally, he contributed to Team Takeover’s eight victories at the EYBL Peach Jam, where he averaged 14.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.
