Ipswich Town earned promotion to the Premier League this season, and the emphasis this summer will be on getting the team in the greatest possible position to prevent another rapid drop.
Kieran McKenna and the Ipswich higher-ups have most likely learned from their recent Premier League adventure, when they spent over £100 million, largely on players who had shone in the Championship in recent years and were on the periphery of the Premier League.
As seen by Sunderland and Leeds United, who are both staying up in their top-flight returns this season, sentiment has no place, and Premier League quality and other top-flight experience must be prioritized.
Certainly, some players have shown that they can compete at the top level, but many of those who assisted the Tractor Boys return to the top may be left on the sidelines. Despite having signed less than five months ago, Anis Mehmeti may be included in this group.
Ipswich Town supporter pundit does not believe Anis Mehmeti will ever play in the Premier League.
Mehmeti moved from Bristol City in January, with only six months left on his contract. As a result, Ipswich was able to sign him for a bargain price of £3 million.

After scoring eight goals and providing six assists in the first half of the season at Ashton Gate, and two goals in his first five starts for the Tractor Boys, he may have established himself as someone capable of playing in the Premier League.
However, with no goal contributions since the end of February and only three starts in the final eight games, it appears that this is not the case, and FLW’s Ipswich fan pundit, Adam Wilkin, believes the Albanian will be left out of Kieran McKenna’s intentions for next season.
According to Mehmeti, he was one of those additions made just to give extra depth to the team for the final few months of the season.
He got off to a fantastic start to his Ipswich career, but then faded slightly, and I don’t believe we should expect to see much of him in a blue and white shirt in the Premier League.
Mehmeti signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Portman Road in January, so he is still under contract until the summer of 2029.
As a result, Wilkin expects him to be loaned rather than sold, since an excellent year in the Championship might see him return to the Ipswich fold next season, or if the Tractor Boys are demoted again, he might be a useful asset in the second division. But for the time being, his immediate future is most likely not with his current team.
I believe he provided good value for money at the time, and I anticipate that he will be loaned out to the Championship next season with the goal of gaining game time and maintaining his worth, the fan expert added.
However, I do not expect him to contribute to the Premier League; he was more of a short-term addition.
Ipswich Town’s decision regarding Anis Mehmeti will show how aggressive they will be this summer.
Finally, Mehmeti is not the only player in the Ipswich team who has obvious top-end Championship ability but has yet to demonstrate it in the Premier League, regardless of whether or not he has been provided the opportunity.
Heading into the January transfer window, the Albanian was possibly one of the best attacking midfielders in the second division, so if he ends up being surplus to needs as Ipswich upgrades, the likes of Jacob Greaves, Jack Taylor, and even top scorer Jack Clarke, who were all in and out of the starting XI this season, might be sold as well.
However, in the end, that may be what Ipswich needs to do to compete and stay above the dreaded relegation zone next season in the Premier League. They’ve gotten a taste of elite football recently and don’t want it to last just one season again.
If that proves to be the case, there will be a frantic line forming outside Portman Road, packed with ambitious Championship clubs aiming for promotion and eager to take Mehmeti on for the season.
