The Philadelphia Phillies have had a rollercoaster of emotions in the first month and a half of the season. The business had already made a significant shift by dismissing its manager, despite having a sluggish start.
While the Phillies have recently begun to win games, the team experienced one of the worst stretches in baseball earlier this season
.
“The Philadelphia Phillies have the longest losing streak in baseball, having lost their eighth consecutive game and are tied with the Mets for the worst record in the National League at 8-16. At -50, the Phillies have the worst run differential in baseball, 15 runs worse than anybody else.
As the season progresses, Philadelphia may begin to move on from certain players, with Alec Bohm’s name frequently mentioned in trade speculations.
“Alec Bohm, the team’s starting third baseman, is easily the largest name on this list. I am aware that Bohm has been the subject of trade rumors for some time, with Phillies fans anticipating a change, but this is the first time it seems like something has to happen. It just isn’t working,” FanSided’s Zachary Rotman said.
At this moment, it appears that a schism is unavoidable. One recent mock transaction had the Phillies swapping Bohm to the Milwaukee Brewers for Robert Gasser and top-10 prospect Josh Adamczewski.
“Milwaukee’s lineup will be improved with Chourio, Vaughn, and Yelich playing together on a regular basis. Still, Milwaukee has only struck 27 home runs this season, the fewest in the league. As the season progresses, the Brewers should look for another major hitter. At some time, Cooper Pratt may take Joey Ortiz as shortstop. If the team wants to add, third base would be an interesting place to look. Alec Bohm, a Philadelphia Phillies infielder, is one player the club should take a chance on.
A trip to Milwaukee would provide Bohm with the chance to fight for a starting position right away. Luis Rengifo has struggled at the dish this season, so if Bohm can recapture his swing, he may cement his position in the Brewers’ lineup.
However, Bohm’s biggest failing this season has been consistency at the plate. A relocation might assist him in succeeding in Milwaukee, while the Phillies would acquire two young players to help create for the future. It has the potential to be a mutually beneficial agreement for both parties.
