The Milwaukee Bucks have officially launched their impending comprehensive search for a new head coach.

As a result, according to Sam Amick and Eric Nehm of The Athletic, the organization has expressed strong interest in hiring Taylor Jenkins as their new playcaller.

Bucks owners Wes Edens and Jimmy Haslam, as well as general manager Jon Horst, visited Memphis to meet with Jenkins about the team’s vacant coaching job.

Jenkins worked as the Memphis Grizzlies’ head coach, guiding the team from 2019 until his firing near the conclusion of the previous 2024-25 regular season.

The Grizzlies had successful competitive years under his management, with important players such as Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr. , and Desmond Bane. Memphis equaled the franchise’s regular-season victory record (56) and advanced to the second round of the NBA Playoffs for the 2021-22 season.

Jenkins formerly worked as Mike Budenholzer’s assistant in Milwaukee before quitting to take the Grizzlies’ head coaching job following the 2018-19 season.

Doc Rivers resigned as the Bucks’ head coach after the team failed to reach the NBA Playoffs this 2025-26 for the first time in a decade.

Aside from recruiting a new head coach, the Bucks will have to decide what to do with Giannis Antetokounmpo during their early 2026 offseason.
