BYU has added a major name to its 2027 recruiting class.
Jeremiah Williams, a four-star defensive lineman from Tustin High in California, has committed to the Cougars, he revealed on Thursday. Rivals broke the story first.
Williams is ranked as the No. 27 overall player in California and No. 37 defensive lineman in the country by 247 Sports. He picked BYU over other renowned Power Four institutions such as UCLA, Arizona State, North Carolina, Colorado, and others.
Williams had 67 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, and five sacks as a junior at Tustin last season. During his sophomore season in 2024, he recorded 10 sacks.
Williams has also run for Tustin, scoring ten touchdowns in the previous two seasons while averaging more than seven yards per attempt as a junior.
In addition to Williams, BYU’s 2027 commitments include Las Vegas running back Ezra Sanelivi and Mountain Ridge High athlete Tytan DeJong. Williams is the Cougars’ first four-star recruit in the class, providing Kelly Poppinga with his first high school recruiting victory as BYU’s defensive coordinator.
