The Detroit Lions have released wide receiver Tom Kennedy as Kalif Raymond nears his return from injured reserve. Raymond, who sustained a foot injury during a game against the Indianapolis Colts last month, has been practicing for the past couple of weeks. Although he was ruled out last week, there remains a possibility of him returning before the regular season ends. Raymond has been participating fully in practice this week.
During Raymond’s absence, Kennedy stepped in as a return specialist, filling the void effectively. He is familiar with the process of moving between the active roster and the practice squad. This season, Kennedy has appeared in four games, handling one punt return and six kickoff returns.
In other roster moves, the Lions have re-signed defensive back Morice Norris to their practice squad. Norris had briefly been promoted to the 53-man roster last week, playing 20 snaps on special teams. He has spent the majority of the season on the practice squad after joining the Lions as an undrafted rookie free agent, following his college career at Orange Coast and Fresno State.
