Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn addresses the difficulties of playing on a short week as they prepare to face the Detroit Lions this Saturday.

The Commanders and Lions are gearing up for an NFC Divisional Round showdown, with both teams aiming for a deep playoff run. Washington is preparing to face a well-rounded Detroit squad that has excelled on both offense and defense this season.

Sticking to their season-long preparation methods, the Commanders are adapting to the demands of a compressed schedule.

Detroit’s dynamic offense and aggressive defense pose a formidable challenge. The Lions are among the league leaders in explosive plays, excelling in both the run and pass games. Their physical defensive unit is known for man-to-man coverage and relentless energy.

“As for challenges, there are quite a few,” said head coach Dan Quinn. “Their style, their attitude—they’re high-flying on offense and among the best in the run game. They’ve created many explosive plays this season, and sustaining drives against them is tough.”

Quinn also emphasized the Lions’ offensive versatility and depth.

“Whether it’s their speed at receiver, the running back duo, the quarterback’s arm, or their excellent o-line, they’re solid,” he said. “Defensively, they play aggressive man-to-man coverage. It’s a big test for us.”

Despite the obstacles, Quinn expressed confidence in his team’s readiness. “We’re just starting our prep, so it’s not complete yet. But we’re comfortable working through the process, whether it’s early or late.”

With determination and a solid strategy, the Commanders are ready to compete for a spot in the NFC Championship Game.

Washington will take on the Lions at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday in Detroit.
