In a moment he would like to forget, former Tennessee Volunteers basketball star Tobias Harris went viral Thursday night during the Detroit Pistons’ playoff match against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
During Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals between the Detroit Pistons and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night, former Tennessee Vols forward Tobias Harris became internet sensation.
And it was a split second that Harris would rather not remember.
With an apparent injury, Harris collapsed to the ground in the first quarter after being totally confounded by Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell.
Although Harris, a first-round pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, remained in the game, the video quickly went viral on social media throughout the evening.
Eventually, using a different camera perspective, viewers were able to see that Mitchell had really gripped Harris’ knee as he made his way to the basket.
Even if Mitchell would have defeated Harris regardless, the knee grab undoubtedly made it harder for the former Vols star to maintain his composure.
However, Harris ultimately had the upper hand as the Pistons defeated the Pistons 107-97 to extend their series lead to 2-0
.
In the victory, Harris grabbed seven rebounds and scored 21 points in 37 minutes of play.
