Everyone sensed that the Milwaukee Bucks may appear slightly different at the conclusion of the season, and one of the first dominoes has already toppled. Doc Rivers will leave as the Bucks’ head coach shortly after the team’s final regular-season game, according to reports.

The following day, Rivers released a statement regarding the decision.

“I have genuinely loved my time in Milwaukee,” Rivers remarked. “Returning to the place where I began my career, to a city that has always accepted me, has been a blessing. I am disappointed that things did not turn out as any of us had hoped, but I am tremendously appreciative for this opportunity, the connections formed, and the unwavering support from our fans and the community. Milwaukee will always be significant to me, and this chapter will have a particular place in my heart. “

Rivers had a difficult time as head coach, with the club failing to achieve much in the previous three seasons. They were ousted in the first round of the playoffs the previous two seasons and missed the playoffs and play-in tournament this season.

Over the previous week, rumors circulated about a breakdown between Rivers and the players, and during a meeting, he urged the squad to review his résumé. Rivers stated on the Run It Back show that he didn’t say it in a disrespectful tone.

Nonetheless, the Bucks will now have to recruit a new head coach for next season, but there is also question about what the club would look like. The big story this summer will be Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future, and it appears that he may join a different club at some point.

That will not deter the Bucks from their search for a new coach, but it may have an influence on who they select.
