Anyone who has followed Miami athletics news for the last three months has witnessed the process unfold. Dwyane Wade comments on the Heat. The clip goes viral. Bam Adebayo or Erik Spoelstra responds. Wade clarifies. Repeat.

The franchise star made an honest confession about why this continues to happen during a recent visit on his own Wy Network.

Wade admitted that he occasionally forgets there is a sculpture of him standing outside the Kaseya Center when he talks to the press about the club. Everything I say is billboard stuff, Wade joked in comments published by Heat Central.

He confessed that his public complaints are seen as commands by a fan group that has seen him win three titles in Miami.

Wade disagrees with how his Heat remarks are being interpreted.
The backdrop here is March’s no buzz issue, in which Wade stated on The Big Podcast with Shaq that the city’s passion for the Heat had dwindled. Adebayo scored 83 points against the Washington Wizards that same week and told reporters that Wade should “take your ass to the house. ” Spoelstra defended the locker room. Heat fans divided into camps.

Dwyane Wade admits that he occasionally forgets that he has a statue outside of Miami when he talks about the squad, and supporters take his words seriously.

Wade has been working ever since to recalibrate. He believes that his words have a bigger effect than he wants due to who he is, rather than because he is attempting to box the organization into a corner.

Just because I said there’s no excitement in the city doesn’t mean they’ll go out and create it, according to Wade. The fan within him hopes for Eastern Conference Finals appearances. The realist in him understands that Pat Riley and the front office function on their own schedule.

That tension resurfaced on May 13, when Wade urged Heat supporters to be patient with team president Pat Riley, Andy Elisburg, Micky Arison, and Nick Arison, stating that the front office acts when an opportunity presents itself, not before.

The episode was named Trusting the Miami Heat Front Office, and it showed Wade publicly retracting the dissatisfaction he had expressed weeks before.
