All indicators point to the Memphis Grizzlies trading Ja Morant this summer.
According to Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report, the Memphis Grizzlies would swap Ja Morant this offseason if they could obtain any acceptable return.

The Grizzlies nearly traded Morant during the 2026 NBA trade deadline. All indicators point to Morant and Memphis parting ways this summer.

Morant will earn $42. 1 million next season, with $44 million due in the 2027-28 season, the final year of his contract. The 26-year-old does not have a no-trade clause in his contract, thus he cannot choose where the Grizzlies trade him this summer.

Morant averaged 19. 5 points, 3. 3 rebounds, and 8. 1 assists in 20 games for Memphis this season, with a shooting percentage of 41. 0% from the field, 23. 5% from beyond the arc, and 89. 7% from the free-throw line.

Morant, the 2019-20 Rookie of the Year, has led the Grizzlies to the second round of the playoffs just once. That occurred in 2022.

Morant has career averages of 22. 4 points, 4. 6 rebounds, and 7. 4 assists per game. According to ESPN, Morant has told others that he will no longer play for the Grizzlies, who picked the guard as the second overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft out of Murray State.

Morant, a two-time All-Star, is still upset with the Grizzlies’ decision to suspend him earlier this season for behavior harmful to the squad.

Morant is still reeling from the suspension, according to many league sources, since he felt isolated by teammates who were told to leave the star guard alone so he could sort through the concerns that had led to the penalty. Following the incident, Morant informed several players around the league, including some of his former coaches, that he would no longer play for Memphis, according to ESPN sources.

It will be interesting to see where Morant plays next season. In trade speculations, he has been associated with the Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Sacramento Kings.
