Teagan Mallegni, a fellow Iowa Hawkeyes guard, has reunited with her former teammate, Addie Deal, in Madison.
In a transaction that will result in an intriguing conference match in the 2026–27 season, the Wisconsin Badgers were successful in signing both Hawkeyes.
Mallegni’s transfer to Madison and playing for the Badgers the following year was formally announced by Wisconsin. Deal also transferred from Iowa, and this transfer occurs with remarkable speed.
Although Deal is expected to start, Mallegni will probably play a significant role coming off Robin Pingeton’s bench. Iowa’s future junior has played in 45 games, but has not yet started a collegiate game.
Originally from McFarland, Wisconsin, Mallegni’s scoring average fell dramatically last season, going from 3. 2 points per game as a freshman to just 1. 5 points.
Mallegni is the thirteenth player on this Badgers team, standing at 6 feet 1 inch tall. Pingeton isn’t kidding about about helping this team advance to the next level, as evidenced by the fact that he poached two athletes from a Big Ten opponent. However, Wisconsin still needs a little bit more height to really make this team compete.
