According to 104. 5 ESPN, special teams assistant coach Cason Bicknell of the Florida Gators will move to Baton Rouge to join Lane Kiffin’s LSU Tigers squad in the 2026 campaign.
In the Bayou State, Bicknell will rejoin Joe Houston, the LSU Special Teams Coordinator, after spending the 2025 campaign on the Florida team as the Special Teams Quality Control for the Gators.
Following his time in Gainesville, Houston was brought in this offseason by LSU as the program’s Special Teams Coordinator, which was a key addition to the team in Baton Rouge under Kiffin.
Houston, who has spent the last two seasons on the sidelines with Billy Napier at the helm of the Florida Gators, has made numerous visits throughout the Southeastern Conference.
Prior to the Florida Gators dismissing their head coach in October 2025, Houston was promoted to special teams coordinator on Napier’s staff.
Houston has worked for Kiffin previously, having worked with Bill Belichick at the New England Patriots and Nick Saban at Alabama in 2019, among other stints throughout his career in football. It’s a smart hire for Kiffin.
Houston began his career as a kicker for the Trojans under Pete Carroll before ending it under Kiffin at USC, where he was a former All-America.
According to 104. 5 ESPN, Houston is currently bringing his former colleague in Gainesville over as an assistant special teams coordinator for the 2026 season.
In advance of Kiffin’s first season at the helm of the program, LSU is still putting together a formidable team in Baton Rouge.
