Lane Kiffin is experiencing his first offseason as the head coach of the LSU Tigers after leaving the Ole Miss Rebels. Following LSU’s dismal 2025 season, in which they went 7-6 and fell to the Houston Cougars in the Texas Bowl, he is under tremendous pressure.
Kiffin is still thinking about the future, even though he is trying to turn things around quickly. Two top-tier prospects have already committed to LSU in the class of 2027. Four-star quarterback Peyton Houston and four-star EDGE Jaiden Bryant are among them.

On December 21, barely a month after Kiffin assumed his position, Sweeney first revealed his offer from LSU from Olney, Maryland. On Saturday, Sweeney paid Baton Rouge an unofficial visit. He complimented his time on campus in an interview with Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong.
“LSU is simply different! ” he stated. Overall, it was a fantastic trip, and I was thrilled to observe the culture that Coach Kiffin has established. The practice had a lot of vigor and a unique approach to things. Without a doubt, I rank LSU among the top five. I’m thrilled that my OV with them is scheduled for May 28–31.
The Tigers would benefit greatly from the addition of Sweeney. According to Rivals Industry Rankings, he is a five-star prospect, the third-best EDGE player, and the twentieth-best player in the country. He is already quite large for a high school junior at 6 feet 4 inches and 230 pounds. In 11 games last season at Our Lady of Good Counsel, he had 34 tackles, five tackles for loss, and 3. 5 sacks.
Even though the Tigers have made a good impression, they are up against some formidable opponents. Other programs, such as Ohio State, Penn State, South Carolina, Maryland, and Tennessee, have also made offers to Sweeney. But on May 28, his formal visit to Baton Rouge will provide LSU the opportunity to gain the lead.
