Greg Gard and the Wisconsin basketball program secured a commitment from Australian point guard Owen Foxwell just a few weeks ago, turning him away from LSU. However, as we know, commitments these days are not always certain.
However, Owen Foxwell’s decision to join the Badgers is.
The Wisconsin basketball squad formally confirmed the addition of the Australian point guard.
What Greg Gard Has to Say About Foxwell’s Signing
Gard issued a statement on the official signing.
Owen is a tremendous point guard who is mature, experienced, and a great leader. Gard stated that he has played at the highest level in Australia and has had tremendous success with winning teams. His personality complements our culture nicely, and he is a great teammate and proven champion. As we create next year’s roster, his game fits well with our seasoned front line. We’re excited to bring Owen to Madison soon to begin our off-season training.
Foxwell joins the Badgers after spending five years with the Melbourne Phoenix in the Australian NBL, which is a highly competitive professional league. Last season, he averaged 10. 8 points, 4. 5 assists, and 3. 0 rebounds per game while shooting 41% from the field.
This is an opportunity that I have always wanted, Foxwell stated in the program’s press statement. I am really excited to get started, get on the floor, and assist in the success of the program.
Foxwell will join LaTrevion Fenderson and fellow NBL star Jackson Ball as the Badgers’ 2026 class.
