One of the top athletes from Michigan State’s home state is about to sign with them.
The Spartans were forecast by Jason Killop of Rivals a few days ago to acquire the future commitment of Jameer Henry, an offensive lineman at Martin Luther King (Mich. ). In March, Trieu of Rivals had also selected Michigan State to sign Henry.
Henry’s Rapid Facts
He is ranked 503rd nationally on the Rivals Industry Rankings, which includes ninth in the state of Michigan. This places him as the state’s third-best O-lineman, behind only four-stars Jakari Lipsey (Michigan commit) and Dewey Young (uncommitted).
The program’s interest in Henry, who is now 6’5″ and 310+ pounds, came before new head coach Pat Fitzgerald and offensive line coach Nick Tabacca. It pre-dates Jonathan Smith, even. Henry was first offered by Michigan State way back in October 2023.
It’s fascinating to be in a position to predict recruitment, as there hasn’t been much noise between Henry and the Spartans. He made an unofficial visit to campus in June 2025, and it doesn’t appear that he has an official visit planned with Michigan State at this time.
Other Power Four offers for Henry include Missouri, Cincinnati, Illinois, Michigan, Kansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Pitt, Purdue, Tennessee, USC, and Vanderbilt. That’s a nice offer list.
The Meaning of Commitment
Landing Henry, though, would be enormous. He would immediately be MSU’s second-highest-rated recruit in the ’27 class if he pledged right now. The sole person he would trail in the Rivals Industry Rankings is Ohimai Ozolua, a defensive lineman from St. Rita (Ill. ) who is currently ranked #416 overall.
It becomes quite evident why Henry is ranked as highly as he is when you turn on some tape. He played a lot of right guard at MLK, where Michigan State receiver/safety target Don Spillers III is also a teammate. Even when competing in the recruiting hotspot of the metro Detroit area, Henry stood out among the lads because of his stature.
247Sports identifies Henry as an interior offensive lineman, while Rivals ranks him as an offensive tackle recruit. I believe that holding Henry at guard is the best course of action. He’s a fairly good run blocker, and it all begins with the interior offensive line when you’re attempting to establish a physical football team that runs the ball down their throats. Grant Adloff, a prospect from East Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Henry would be a decent haul for the 2027 class.
Tackles are crucial during passing plays (but everyone still has a role to play in either situation). Brighton, Michigan’s Jack Carlson is available to Michigan State. He is presently rated 780th overall and 12th in the state, making him the second-best recruit in the class of ’27.
