There was no shortage of drama in the thrilling three-game Super Regional between Texas Tech and Florida.

Mia Williams, a junior transfer who spent her first two years of college at Florida, led the series in Gainesville.

Williams was struck five times during the series by her prior teammates. She also hit the game-winning two-run home run in Game 1 and a two-run shot to take the lead in Game 3.

The finale in Gainesville was fraught, with parents from both sides talking nonsense and Florida coach Tim Walton being dismissed.

Texas Tech won Game 3 with a final score of 16-7, leaving Florida feeling dissatisfied when the Gators refused to shake hands with the Red Raiders at the conclusion of the game.

While Texas Tech remained on the field, Mia’s father, Jason Williams, gave the celebratory postgame speech. Before joining the NBA, Williams was a Gator.

But his allegiance to his alma mater was challenged in the Super Regional when his daughter, Mia, faced off against her previous Florida teammates.

The former NBA star went to social media to recap all of the action over the weekend. Williams also apologized for any harsh words exchanged with the families and friends of the Gators.

I had an eventful weekend. My daughter did her thing, and the rest of the team followed suit. I’m particularly pleased of my daughter returning to Florida and doing what she did to go through the (expletive) she experienced this weekend. If you saw the game, you know what time it is. Did you notice how the Florida Gators acted at the conclusion of the game?

They didn’t want to shake hands or do anything like that. In the third, the fans attempted to have me ejected. My youngest daughter was struck with items by several fans. …

Look, we’re going on to the World Series. We’re looking to do the right thing. We were cheering on our team, while they cheered on theirs. Things spiraled out of control. They stated certain things they weren’t supposed to say. We said some things we should not have said. And those are just sports.

With that being said, I want everyone to know that I am pleased Texas Tech won. I’m a Florida Gator at heart, and without Florida, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

…We’re sorry on our part, and that’s all I can say.

Who will Texas Tech face in the first round of the Women’s College World Series?

In the opening round of the Women’s College World Series, the Red Raiders will play Mississippi State. The competition begins on Thursday, with Texas Tech participating in the inaugural game at 11 a. m.

Mississippi State should not be disregarded, as the Bulldogs upset their opponents in the first two rounds of the WCWS.
